About
Evans

Relive Evans’ unique career journey
from start to finish.

Telling stories. Building brands.

Evans Clinchy has been a writing, editing, and content strategy professional for 15-plus years. He's held a number of different jobs over the years, but through it all, his one true love has been the writing process.

Evans got his start in sports journalism. One of his first professional gigs was covering the 2008 Boston Celtics championship parade. Soon after, he started working full-time as a Celtics beat reporter. Fresh out of college, he was rubbing elbows daily with Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and (briefly) Shaquille O'Neal. But that era also brought a recession, an NBA lockout, and many rounds of layoffs in the sports media industry - which prompted Evans to look for a more stable career path.

That's when he found marketing. He began in an agency role as a staff writer, taking on dozens of clients across a range of industries. He soon discovered that copywriting wasn't that different from covering the NBA - whether you're writing about a championship basketball team or a fledgling tech firm, the job is the same. It's storytelling.

He wrote everything. There were news articles, press releases, blog posts, white papers, ebooks, YouTube video scripts, and more - you name it.

Eventually, Evans moved into copywriting roles with tech companies, where he was able to spread his creative wings. He devised marketing strategies; he conceived and executed campaigns. He turned abstract million-dollar ideas into real million-dollar revenues.

Along the way, he became a manager. He learned to build teams and to run them. He balanced writing and editing responsibilities; he handled his own creative work while empowering team members to master theirs.

In his career, Evans has done a little bit of everything. He's been a writer, an editor, a marketing strategist, and a leader. And all the while, he's made time for his many passions outside of work as well. He's a devoted husband and father, a champion Scrabble player, a long-distance runner, a chef and cookbook author, and a prolific constructor of crossword puzzles.
